HISTORY
OMEGA CHAPTER NO. 60 O.E.S. - P.H.A.
Omega Chapter No. 60 was organized as an U.D. (Under Dispensation) Club on March 25, 1961 at the Masonic Temple in Newark, New Jersey under the Jurisdiction of Hudson County in Bayonne, New Jersey. Under the leadership of Grand Worthy Matron Madre Jerome and Grand Worthy Patron Julian Foster, Omega Chapter No. 60 received its Charter on October 13, 1962 at 107 Belmont Avenue, Jersey City, New Jersey. Petition was granted to the following Chartered Members: PM Edith Willmont*, PM Dorothy Cummings*, PM Louise Ellison, PM Clyde Ledbetter, PM Margaret Mayo*, Sis. Hester Lee*, PM Marie Venable, PM Jessie Winds*, Sis. Lillian Thorpe, Bro. Marion Winds*, PP Curtis Witherspoon, PP Eulias Ellison*, PP Thomas Mayo* and PP Samuel Elder*.
Members of Omega Chapter have been active in serving the 7th O.E.S. District and Oziel Grand Chapter. PM Clyde Ledbetter served the position of Worthy Dean to the Seventh O.E.S. District School. PP Leo Williams* held the position of Grand District Lecturer, PM Esther R. Welch and PM Maggie L. Murphy served the capacity of District Secretary. Our late PM Nanie L. Venable* worked with the Youth Felicitares on the District level. PP Curtis Witherspoon recently held the office of Grand Sentinel of Oziel Grand Chapter and WM Susan Alston-McRae served as Secretary of the Grand Resolutions Committee and a member of the Grand Choir. PM Janet Witherspoon has chaired and serves on the Grand Floral Committee of Oziel Grand Chapter, O.E.S. - P.H.A. for the Jurisdiction of New Jersey.
Under the administration of PM Esther R. Welch and PP Isaac Murphy, a Christmas Project was organized to entertain children by giving a Christmas Party with Santa, food and toys. Omega Chapter also sponsors a Pre-Thanksgiving Cocktail Sip (November), an Annual Breakfast (January) and a Senior Citizen Luncheon (March). This year the Chapter will sponsor their first Past Matron and Past Patron annual affaire.
