Acceptance Speech May 2, 2008
Good Evening,
I stand before you honored and humbled to be chosen as your Worthy Matron of Omega Chapter No. 60. I thank you for believing that I would have the strength and determination to carry our Chapter to the next level.
My prayer is that we live by the words of the Scripture chosen for this year, Acts 4:32, which states “Now the multitudes of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.” We must remember that we are not just an organization but also a family. In order for the family to grow, every member must play a part in nurturing and being committed to every member of the family’s wellbeing. We must also realize that this family extends outside of these walls. We must reach out to the community with open arms and a welcome smile to let them know that they too are our family and can seek refuge here.
I would like to give a special thanks to my mother, Past Matron Merelyn Daniel, for introducing me to this beautiful Order and for being my No. 1 cheerleader. I would also like to thank all of the Past Matrons for guiding and nurturing me to the East. I pray that you continue to be my backbone.
I wish to congratulate Bro. Wesley Hall on being elected Worthy Patron and for unselfishly taking this trip for the 7th time and all the newly elected and appointed officers.
In closing I would like to leave you with this poem entitled “The Eastern Star:” Taking time to teach someone to be their better self. Helping them to understand, knowledge over wealth. Earning trust is paramount, Caring helps a lot. Ever living God filled lives, giving all you’ve got. A sister is a special breed who takes you by the hand. Stepping right up to the plate, working on demand. Tireless she gives her all to build upon the Order. Enter now a brand new soul, and eastern driven daughter. Realize your full potential, know just who you are. Not that you don’t shine within, just like a shinning star. Stand firm upon your principles or fall for anything. Taking small and splintered scraps of what the world may bring. Ask yourself a simple question, “Am I ready for the Tasks?” Ready at a moments notice to do just what God asks!
Fraternally yours, Sis. Brandi Daniel Worthy Matron |
