Message From the East

I greet you in the name of God, The Grand Architect of the Universe. In Whom all things are possible and without Whom nothing is achievable.

It is my fervent prayer and desire that this message finds you and your household well. With so many issues facing our families, our Nation and our world-at-large, the time has come for us, as Masons and Pillars, in our respective communities, to stand, be counted and remain worthy to be counted upon.  Let us continue to spread the cement of brotherly love and  multiple acts of charity as we travel.

I want to thank the Brethren of Omega for your act of faith and trust in me.  Your selection of me to serve as your Worshipful Master is both an honor and privilege that I weigh heartily and take seriously.  We, as a Lodge, have come a long way and still have so much further to go.  We have a rich successful history of due trial and strict examination, as we continue to grow.

In these times, the world is looking for “Upright” Men and Women.  Masons and Stars must become “salt and light”.  My prayers are for your prosperity and safety.  To whom much is given, much is required.  We have to move from our respective Temples and take our rightful place in the Vanguard of our communities and society, as a whole.  Our meetings may be private but the outpouring of charity and human kindness must extend far past the walls of our lodges.  As we travel, from meeting to meeting, event to event and program to program, we must be ever vigilant to gauge our time appropriately.  Our families, respective houses of worship and time for refreshment allow us the balance, strength and support for vocation and charity.

Freemasonry teaches man to practice charity and benevolence, to protect chastity, to respect the ties of blood and friendship, to adopt principles and revere the ordinance of religion, to assist the feeble, guide the blind, raise up the downtrodden, shelter the orphan, guard the altar, support the Government, inculcate morality, promote learning, love man, fear God, implore His mercy, and hope for happiness.

Finally, please remember that this organization was founded upon Christian principles established in the Holy Bible and strives to teach a man the duty he owes to God, his neighbor and to himself; but interferes neither with religion nor politics as it prescribes the practice of virtue in the conduct of its business. The foundation is character. Its measure is giving. “Making Good Men Better” perpetuates its foundation. Its purpose is serving, which is rendered to the people to improve their social, cultural, and economic conditions. Its measure is giving an act of selfless sacrifice for the benefit of others.

“Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven”  Matthew 5:16

.…that we may be better servants to our families, fraternity and community.

“ All That I am...I Owe… I live Eternally in the Red. “

Fraternally yours,

John A. Alston, Jr. 32°
